Dr. Joel Hlavaty, MD

Vascular Surgeon

Dr. Hlavaty completed his undergraduate degree at the University of Notre Dame before attending the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. He went on to complete his General Surgery Residency at Good Samaritan Hospital in Cincinnati, followed by a Vascular Surgery Fellowship at Case Western Reserve University. During his fellowship, he received extensive training in complex open vascular repairs and advanced endovascular therapies.

Dr. Hlavaty is passionate about providing comprehensive care for a wide range of vascular conditions, including carotid artery disease, limb salvage, aortic aneurysms, dialysis access, and venous disease. He is committed to providing thoughtful, personalized care and helping each patient understand their condition and treatment options.

Dr. Annie Lo, MD

Vascular Surgeon

Originally from Hong Kong, Dr. Hoi Yee Annie Lo moved to the United States in 2009 to pursue her undergraduate education and medical training under a scholarship at the University of Oregon. She earned her medical degree from Eastern Virginia Medical School and completed her General Surgery residency at Kaiser Permanente Los Angeles Medical Center.

She went on to complete a Vascular Surgery fellowship at UC San Diego, where she received advanced training in open, endovascular, and complex vascular procedures. Fluent in English, Mandarin, and Cantonese, she values building lasting relationships with her patients and is especially passionate about improving quality of life and limb preservation for those with vascular disease.

Santa Barbara Vascular Specialists was founded in 2019 with a goal of creating a comprehensive, team-based approach of treating vascular disease in Santa Barbara, Santa Maria and Ventura .
